Sofia City Court Deputy Chair Resigns

Bogdana Zhelyavska, Deputy Chair of the Sofia City Court, has resigned.

The motives for the resignation were not disclosed by the Sofia City Court administration.

Zhelyavska faces disciplinary action.

She is the third Deputy Chair of the Sofia City Court to resign after the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) removed Vladimira Yaneva from the post of Sofia City Court Chair.

Meanwhile, VSS is to discuss Wednesday the results of the inspection launched in end-January at the court, according to reports of dnevnik.bg.

The decision of the VSS involves the removal of Yaneva from the post of Sofia City Court Chair and from the post of a judge.

Yaneva faces criminal proceedings for unlawfully authorizing the use of special surveillance equipment within the so-called “Worms” operation.

The offense is punishable by 1-5 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to BGN 5000, according to Sega daily.
