Small 2.9-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southern Bulgaria

An earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale was registered on Bulgarian territory early on Tuesday, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
The earthquake was felt at 5:07 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the EMSC.
The epicenter was located 6km north of Asenovgrad, 12km southeast of Plovdiv, and 144km southeast of Sofia.
The earthquake had a depth of 2km, according to EMSC data.
The National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences estimated the earthquake at 2.8 on the Richter scale, stating that its epicenter was Plovdiv Airport and its depth was 0km.
There were no immediate reports of injury or material damage.
