The State Agency for Metrology and Technical Surveillance will be launching mass inspections across gas stations in the country.

Inspectors will be observing the fuel quality and the condition of the measuring devices, as announced by Vasil Nenchev in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio.

''We will be checking on the spot if there is a program for technical support of the fuel containers,'' he stated. ''In particular, the reservoirs will now be a focus of attention, simply because no attention has been paid to them and conditions in them immediately lead to overall improvement in fuel quality.''

Asked about previous violations to Bulgarian laws, experts from the agency noted that below 10% of the gas pumping stations did not comply with the regulations. It was further noted that any severe fuel manipulations could only be established through specialized measurements.
