Only two of the ten scheduled flights between Bulgaria's Sofia Airport and Munich and Frankfurt will be conducted on Friday as the pilots of German airline Lufthansa continue their strike.

Short and medium haul flights to Europe, including all flights between Sofia and the two German airports, were cancelled on Wednesday, when the strike began.

The industrial action continued on Thursday for long haul flights and these flights will be also affected on Saturday.

The strike on Friday will lead to the cancellation of 700 flights, which will affect 84 000 passengers, daily Dnevnik reports.

This is the second strike of pilots since the beginning of the year and the twelfth since the start of the dispute in April 2014 over the pilots' transitional pension arrangements.

Meanwhile, Air Traffic Controllers in Italy also announced a strike on Friday, which might result in disruption of flights from and to Italy.
