Bulgaria Seizes 11 Kg Heroin in Serbia-Registered Car

Bulgarian customs have seized about 11 kilogrammes of heroin at Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint at the border with Turkey.

The drug was stashed in a specially built recess beneath the rear window of a Serbian-registered classic Volvo passenger car, the Customs Agency said in a statement on Thursday.

The vehicle was driven by a Serbian national who was travelling alone from Turkey to Serbia via Bulgaria.

The car driver was detained pending police investigation.

Another Serbian national has also been detained in relation to the drug smuggling attempt, according to the statement.
