Bulgaria has strongly condemned Wednesday’s terror attack in Tunisia’s capital that has claimed the lives of innocent people, including foreign tourists.

“We firmly reject all forms of terrorism and believe that no objectives or policies justify the killing of innocent people,” Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “Neither does any religion in the world tolerate such barbaric acts.”

Twenty-two people were killed and about 17 wounded in the shooting at the Bardo national museum in Tunis, Bulgaria’s ambassador to the North African country Mihail Nikolovski has said. He told Nova TV station there were no indications of Bulgarian nationals having been killed or wounded in the attack.

Bulgaria is offering its sympathy and condolences to the victims’ relatives and believes this act of cruelty will boost the Tunisian people’s determination to continue the process of democratisation of their country, the statement read.
