Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Ivaylo Kalfin will resign if his ABV party decides to withdraw its support for the coalition government.

Kalfin also revealed that he will not participate in the party's leadership contest, which became necessary after former Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov resigned as leader of ABV.

The deputy prime minister announced this on Monday in the city of Stara Zagora, where he attended the opening of a kindergarten and a community centre, Darik radio reports.

ABV is to review what has been achieved by the government until the end of April and after that the party is to decide whether it will continue or withdraw its support for the cabinet.

According to Kalfin, the government has completed its first stage, so it can postpone some of the planned reforms until the end of its mandate.

He stated that the governance programme and the political declaration featured many elements, which convinced ABV to support the government, but his party wanted to see concrete results.

Kalfin highlighted that he is not to participate in the leadership contest and even if he is nominated, he will turn the nomination down, as he wants to fulfill his commitments as minister.

Parvanov, who resigned ABV's leadership, announced on Saturday that the party will decide in April whether it will continue to support the government.
