Parts of Bulgaria are continuing to be affected by floods and power cuts as precipitations are continuing on Saturday.

According to the latest data of the Fire Safety and Protection of the Population service, 284 settlements in the districts of Kardzhali, Smolyan and Haskovo remain without electricity.

Some neighbourhoods and small villages in the above-mentioned districts remain inaccessible, private bTV station reports.

A total of 75 settlements in the district of Smolyan have remained without electricity for the eighth day in a row, as fresh snow fell on Saturday.

At present the state of emergency is maintained in six municipalities in the Smolyan district and it remains in force for the whole territory of the district.

The houses in four villages in the district of Pazardzhik are flooded, with the village of Malo Konare having been affected the worst, as there 90 % of the houses are submerged.

The village is experiencing problems with the high level of subsoil waters and the rain, which has been falling on Saturday, is worsening the situation.
There is also danger of river Luda Yana overflowing as part of the dike is missing, so its level is continuously being monitored.

Precipitations are continuing on Saturday with the most snow expected to fall in the four most heavily affected districts – Smolyan, Kardzhali, Pazardzhik and Plovdiv.
