Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor, FBI Head Discuss Tackling Terrorism, Corruption

Bulgarian Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov discussed on Wednesday measures for fighting terrorism and tackling corruption with FBI Director James Comey, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria.

Their meeting was also attended by US Ambassador to Bulgaria Marcie Ries, the prosecution's press service reports.

One of the main points of discussion was the urgent necessity for the adoption of new anti-terrorist legislation in view of the new threats.

Tsatsarov presented the anti-corruption measures, proposed by the prosecution, which are aimed at preventing and tackling these types of practices.

Comey made a commitment to provide opportunities for practical training of Bulgarian prosecutors in the field of fight against terrorism.

The FBI Director stated that the first steps of the investigation are the most important for ensuring successful outcome.

He pointed that US legislation ensured the successful functioning of investigative bodies.
