The French government has confiscated the personal documents of six local citizens on account of their planned trips to Syria on Monday.

The passports and other personal documents will be held for six months initially, but the term could be further extended if needed, as reported by the Bulgarian National radio.

The measure is applied as an anti-terrorism mechanism, after its approval by the French government in November 2014.

According to Prime Minister Manuel Valls, approximately 1,400 people living in France have joined or are planning to join the terrorist organization Islamic State.

Meanwhile, the French aircraft carrier named after Charles de Gaulle has been deployed for the transportation of around 25 military plains and helicopters to the Bahrain gulf in January.

It has sailed off the coast of Toulon and will be participating in the mission organized by the international anti-terrorist coalition, led by the USA, to strengthen the military anti-extremism operations in Iraq.
