Hundreds of citizens gathered Saturday in front of the Bulgarian Presidency in Sofia to protest against the '' Russian informational aggression in Bulgaria''.

No political party flags or agitation was permitted at the initiative organized through social media, as reported by the Bulgarian National Radio.

According to one of the organizers, Dimitrin Vichev, the purpose of the protest was to demonstrate Bulgaria's loyalty to NATO and the EU.

''We insist on a formulation of a firm position by the Bulgarian government representatives on the question of the Cremlin informational agression in Bulgaria,'' Vichev added. ''We demand that the government officially condemns the aggression of Russia against independent Ukraine and the violation of the Minsk settlement.''

A number of Ukrainian flags could be seen alongside the Bulgarian ones, and Ukrainian music sounded during the protest.

Next week the organizers said that they will demand a meeting with MPs and with the President to insist on an official position to be stated by Bulgaria in alignment with its EU and NATO policies.
