Minister of Regional Development Lilyana Pavlova and Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski will inspect the progress of the construction of Struma motorway on Saturday.

There are two segments in the 55-kilometer construction - one connects Dupnitsa and Blagoevgrad and the other, called lot 4 - Sandanski and the border with Greece at Kulata.

According to the last agreement reached between the Bulgarian government and the companies executing the project, the first connection will be ready by October of this year, and the final Sandanski-Kulata route will be completed no later than August.

The motorway has been financed through the EU operational program Transport, and the total cost amounts to BGN 358,7 M, Dnevnik daily reported.

The Greek company working on the Sandanski-Kulata route has been at risk of having the contract stopped because of a delays in construction. Bulgarian government, however, decided to allow it to complete the segment to avoid further slow down of the project.

Prime Minister Boiko Borisov also visited the construction site and stated that he is currently satisfied with the overall progress of the project.
