Jordan has deployed tens of fighter jets to bomb targets of the Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq, officials say.

The military has vowed to continue with the attacks to bring IS to its defeat after the death of Moaz al-Kassabeh, a captured Jordanian military pilot who was burned alive, with IS members taking footage of their actions.

The pilot's death prompted King Abdullah to cut short his visit to the US.

CNN quotes Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh as saying this was only "the beginning" of his country's retaliation. He also ordered the execution of two Iraqis who were part of Al-Qaeda's network.

Jets were previously deployed to bomb Raqqa, the IS bastion in Syria (where Jordan had only taken part in the raids of the US-led coalition), but have now been scrambled to strike Iraq as well.
