Bulgarian Energy Effectiveness Programme Worth BGN 1 B Starts Monday

The application for participation in the National Programme for Energy Effectiveness starts on Monday, as announced by the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development.

The project will be funded by the Bulgarian Development Bank, providing a BGN 1 B loan for the project.

All multiple-family residential buildings across Bulgaria, with a minimum of 36 separate apartments, are eligible to apply at their corresponding municipalities. The first step requires at least 67% of homeowners to create a formal union.

Subsequently, all apartment residents will have to provide access to their properties, so that specific measures for energy insulation can be assigned.

The programme will fund building renovation through installation of external energy-effective panels, roof restoration, possible substitution of windows and doors, heating installations, and solar panels in the common areas. It will not include replacement of elevators and renovation activities in each separate apartment.
