Israel carried out an air strike in the Syrian sector of the Golan Heights on Sunday, killing six members of Hezbollah.

Among the victims is the son of Hezbollah's late military leader, a current commander and at least one Iranian, the BBC reports.

The members of the Lebanese movement were killed while completing a reconnaissance mission in the Syrian province of Quneitra.

The incident comes days after Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah announced that his forces might respond to the repeated strikes of Israel in Syria.

Hezbollah has been supporting the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the civil war that has ravaged the country for four years.

Since then Israel has conducted several air strikes on Syria, preventing the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah.
