Bulgaria’s Govt Debt at 23.1% of GDP by end-November 2014

Bulgaria’s government debt amounted to EUR 9 597,7 million as of end-November, according to Finance Ministry data.

Bulgaria’s domestic debt amounted to EUR 4 018,1 million and the external debt - to EUR 5 579,6 million.

At the end of the reporting period, the government debt/ gross domestic product (GDP) ratio was 23,1%, the share of external government debt being 13,4% and of domestic government debt - 9,7% of GDP.  

As regards the structure of the government debt, domestic debt amounted to 41,9%, and external debt - to 58,1%.

In end-November, 58.8% of the debt was denominated in Euro, 30.8% in BGN, 9.6% in USD, and 0.8% in other currencies.

In November 2014, the payments under the government debt amounted to BGN 43,5 million.

As regards the currency composition of payments since the beginning of the year, the largest share was that of BGN-denominated payments, at 80.1%, followed by EUR-denominated payments at 15.0%, USD-denominated payments at 4.5% and JPY-denominated payments at 0.3%.

In November 2014, the government guaranteed debt reached EUR 338,3 million, of which EUR 23,7 million were the domestic government guarantees, and the government guaranteed debt/ GDP ratio was 0,8 per cent.
