At the beginning of the second set, Chardy and Kubot made a break as Dimitrov was serving and were in the lead with 2:0.
Later on in the set, Dimitrov and Kokkinakis equalised, but shortly after that they conceded another break, which proved decisive for their opponents' winning the second set.
Chardy and Kubot started the tie-break confidently, achieving a 5:2 lead.
They were also in the lead at 8:6, but after that Dimitrov and Kokkinakis won four consecutive rallies and won the match.
The next opponents of Dimitrov and Kokkinakis are Robert Lindstedt (Sweden) and Marcin Matkowski (Poland), who have been ranked third in the scheme of the tournament.
This victory comes at the right moment for Dimitrov as he is to play against one of his defeated opponents - Chardy in the second round of the men's singles competition.
The match between Dimitrov and Chardy is scheduled to take place after 6:30 a.m. Bulgarian time on Wednesday.
The winner will play against the winner from the match between Alexandr Dolgopolov (Ukraine) and Martin Klizan (Slovakia).
