Pipe companies still deliver pipes for the halted South Stream pipeline project to Bulgaria, reports the Russian business daily Vedomosti.

According to a source in one of the Russian pipe companies, it didn't get any official notification on the termination of the pipeline project and it continues with the fulfilment of the contract.

A source of Vedomosti in the South Stream Transport company confirmed that besides the stopping of the work of the Castoro Sei pipelaying vessel, the other work continues as usual and the pipe companies continue producing and delivering pipes for storage on Bulgarian territory.

The first stage of the South Stream project requires 680 000 tonnes of pipes, the majority of which have already been shipped to Bulgaria. Of the three pipe companies, producing the pipes – the German Europipe and the Russian OMK and Severstal – OMK confirmed for the daily that they are still producing pipes, while Severstal said they had already completed the order. Europipe did not comment on the matter.
