Balkan Music Star Goran Bregovic Returns for Concert in Sofia

Balkan music star Goran Bregovic and his Weddings and Funeral Orchestra will perform in a concert on Friday at the Arena Armeec in Sofia.
Arena Armeec was the venue of his previous concert in 2012, which had a huge success, making Bregovic to demand that his next performance is also staged there.
Bregovic and his band are to perform on the eve of the forthcoming Christmas holidays, ensuring the raising of the festive mood of all of his followers in Bulgaria.
Apart from the well-known hits and soundtracks, Bregovic is to present to the Bulgarian audience songs from his latest album Champagne for Gypsies.
As the title of the album suggests, it represents a gesture towards underpriviliged Roma people in the whole of Europe, as well as a praise for their talent and contribution to the world culture.
The music of Bregovic mixes deep Balkan roots with more contemporary developments, uniting sounds of gypsy brass instruments with traditional Bulgarian polyphony, accompanied by guitar and percussion instruments, a male choir and string instruments.
All of his albums have recorded great successes – initially in the former Yugoslavia, later in the whole world.
Together with the members of the band from his youth Bijelo Dugme they set new standards in live performances.
The masterful mixing of rock and ethno elements turned him into an ambassador of Balkan music around the world.
His cooperation with director Emir Kusturica gave birth to masterpieces such as the soundtracks to Time of the Gypsies, Arizona Dream, Underground.
In 1995 the soundtrack to Underground was awarded with Palme d'Or at the Cannes festival.
The concert in Sofia takes place on December 19 at 20:00.

The prices of tickets range from BGN 30 to BGN 55, depending on their exact location in the hall.
