The EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) is to decide Monday on cuts to the national turbot quotas of Bulgaria and Romania.

For yet another year in a row, the European Commission has sought a 15% cut to the total allowable catch (TAC) for turbot in the Black Sea in a bid to ensure sustainable fishing.

The Commission has sought cuts to the national quotas for turbot of Bulgaria and Romania for a number of years, but the levels have remained unchanged as a result of the objections of the two countries, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio.

Bulgaria is expected to oppose the new turbot quota cut on Monday.
