The Bulgarian Interior Minister Veselin Vuchkov confirmed with a high degree of certainty that the car of the former chief of DANS Petko Sertov has left Bulgarian territory for Greece.

Following a detailed study of evidences by a special investigative unit, Vuchkov announced the information on Sunday on private bTV station.

Vuchkov's statement coincides with the hypothesis of the chief secretary of the Interior Ministry Svetlozar Lazarov raised on Thursday.

Lazarov then explained that is highly likely that former chief of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Petko Sertov has left for Greece because of his contacts there.

Furthermore his car has been spotted in the day of his disappearance in the region of Petrich, close to the Greek border.

Following the disappearance of Sertov on December 5, he was declared missing, while the Interior Ministry is on a search for the car with which he had left his home.

Vuchkov could not identify concrete reasons for the actions of Sertov, stating that a serious motive for full-scale investigation of the case was lacking for the moment.

Vuchkov expressed his belief that the Interior Ministry is capable of establishing the truth of Sertov's location.

The Interior Minister defined the case with Sertov's disappearance as a “family drama”, expressing his hope that the wife of Sertov will cooperate with the investigators in clarifying the motives for his disappearance.

Vuchkov revealed that the Interior Ministry has managed to track Sertov's moves “minute by minute” until his car left Bulgarian territory on December 5.
