Bulgaria Has Lowest Consumption Per Capita in EU – Eurostat

Bulgaria has the lowest consumption per capita among the 28 member states of the European Union.

This was revealed by the latest data from Eurostat, which was published on Thursday.

According to the data, consumption per capita in 2013 varied between 49 % and 136 % of the EU average.

The difference in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2013 was even more pronounced, as it varied between 45 % and 257 % of the EU average.

Eurostat recorded both the Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the 28 member states of the EU.

The highest level of AIC per capita was recorded in Luxembourg, where it stood at 136 % of the EU average.

Bulgaria had the lowest level of AIC per capita at 49 % of the EU average, a drop of 1 % from its 2012 figure.

Bulgaria also had the lowest GDP per capita in 2013, being 45 % of the EU average, retaining its 2012 figure.

Similarly, Luxembourg occupied the first ranking in GDP per capita, recording 257 % of the EU average.
