The debts of state-owned hospitals stood at BGN 320.72 million, up by BGN 32.8 million from September 30, 2013, according to Health Ministry data, as cited by Trud daily.
The debts of municipally owned hospitals dropped by BGN 1.84 million on the year.
Debts of hospitals account for BGN 160.468 million of the total debts, with municipally owned hospitals having a ? share (BGN 29.57 million) and state-owned hospitals a ? share.
The reasons for the increase in debt rates include the shortage of funding in the sphere of healthcare and the months-long delays of payments from the National Health Insurance Fund to hospitals for activities above the established limit.
