Bulgaria’s GDP Up 1.6% Y/Y in Q3, 2014

In the third quarter of 2014, Bulgaria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 1.6% on the year and by 0.5% from the second quarter of 2014, according to the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

According to the flash GDP estimates for the third quarter of 2014, the GDP at current prices amounted to BGN 22 410 million, while the Gross Value Added (GVA) stood at BGN 19 074 million.

Final consumption accounted for 70.7% of the GDP, or BGN 15 845 million.

In Q3, 2014, gross capital formation stood at 21.7% of the GDP, or BGN 4 870 million.

The external balance (exports minus imports) was positive.

According to seasonally adjusted data, the GDP grew by 0.5% on a quarterly basis in Q3, 2014 .

GVA increased by 0.5% on a quarterly basis in Q3, 2014.

In Q3, 2014, final consumption went up by 0.9% on a quarterly basis, while gross fixed capital formation increased by 0.5%.

In Q3, 2014, final consumption went up by 1.4% on the year in Q3, 2014, while gross fixed capital formations went up by 4.2% over the same period.

In Q3, 2014 exports of goods and services decreased by 2.4% on the year, while imports of goods and services increased by 1.0%.
