Sofia Hosts 7th International Triennial of Graphic Arts

The Seventh International Triennial of Graphic Arts “Sofia 2014” opens at 6 pm on Monday in the exhibition halls of the gallery of the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA), located on 6 Shipka Street.

The Triennial, which has a 20-year history, gathers the latest achievements of artists from more than 30 countries.

According to Albena Spasova, coordinator of the Graphics section of UBA, as cited y dnevnik.bg, specialists assess the Triennial as a platform for contemporary graphics from all over the world, and rank it as one of the most significant events in the area of visual arts.

The jury, which is to announce the awards at the opening ceremony, is composed of famous names in the world of contemporary graphics from Brazil, Luxembourg and the USA. It is presided by Dr. Breda ?krjanec – director of the oldest and most authoritative international Biennial of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The program of the Triennial includes a discussion titled “Contemporary graphics – between classical and digital technologies”, which is to take place at 11 am on November 11.

Partners of the international event, which is organized by the Graphics section of UBA, include the Sofia Municipality, the “Supporting Art in Bulgaria” Foundation, with the kind support of the Brazilian and US embassies in Bulgaria.

The exhibitions of the Triennial will welcome visitors by November 30.
