Flood Damage in Bulgaria’s Burgas Estimated at BGN 13 M

Burgas District Governor Pavel Marinov has informed that a total of over BGN 13 M is necessary to cover flood damage in the region.

Marinov, as cited by the Focus news agency, explained Friday that the damage to the road infrastructure caused during the period of torrential rains in end-October amounted to BGN 5.4 M, while the other damage had been estimated at BGN 7.9 M.

He noted that a total of eight municipalities had been affected by the floods, with four of them, including Burgas, Pomorie, Primorsko, and Tsarevo, forced to take steps to cope with an emergency situation.

Marinov said that the flood damage at these municipality stood at BGN 6.8 M.

The heavy rain in the Burgas district in end-October claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman, destroyed bridges and streets, and flooded scores of houses.
