Bulgaria’s Bansko Ranks As Best-Value European Skiing Spot - Survey

Bulgaria’s Bansko is offering the best value to Britons looking for a family week away skiing this winter, a new survey has shown.

According to the survey conducted by TripAdvisor, a family of four will have to spend GBP 1,631 for a one-week holiday in the skiing resort in southwestern Bulgaria – the best value among 42 European skiing destinations.

The price includes accommodation in an average hotel, ski passes and hire, ski lessons, evening meals and drinks.

The next best value-for-money ski resort in the survey Sierra Nevada in Spain with total costs of GBP 1,930, followed by Russia’s Sochi (GBP 2,205), Germany’s  Berchtesgaden (GBP 2,476) and Andorra’sOrdino Arcalis (GBP 2,504).

Austria's St Anton was the most expensive of the 42 locations surveyed with a price tag of GBP 5,026 for the period from 15 December 2014 to 15 April next year.

On a country basis, Andorra tops the best value list, with four of the 10 least expensive destinations, whereas Switzerland is the least affordable, with four of the 10 most expensive resorts.

TripAdvisor spokesman James Kay commented: "This year, Eastern European destinations and Andorra are where families will find the best value for money."
