Lesovo Border Crossing Closed, Police Operation Underway

The Lesovo border crossing between Bulgaria and Turkey is closed due to a police operation against allegedly corrupt Bulgarian customs officers, reports the BTA wire service.

Two shifts of customs officers were arrested, as the operation of the Prosecutor's Office and the National Security Agency (DANS) continues.

According to the Nova TV national channel the operation was prompted by numerous complaints from Turkish truck drivers that they were blackmailed into paying all kinds of fabricated fees and taxes.
