Bulgaria’s Parliament Holds 1st Regular Sitting

Bulgaria’s new Parliament is to hold its first regular sitting on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s agenda of the newly sworn-in MPs envisages the creation of two interim committees, including one on legal affairs and one on budget and finance, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio.

By the end of the week, MPs are to discuss the report of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) on troubled Bulgarian bank Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB, Corpbank).

The agenda proposed by Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva for Wednesday also includes hearings of caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva on the level of readiness of the Regional Development Ministry and the Road Infrastructure Agency for the winter season and the steps already taken in the sphere of road maintenance and cleaning.

MPs are also to attend hearings of caretaker Health Minister Miroslav Nenkov on problems concerning mandatory immunization and of caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov and Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov on the measures of the caretaker government aimed at handling the growing migratory pressure on Bulgaria.
