Some 20 Bulgarian companies are involved in the construction of infrastructure for Qatar's 2022 FIFA World Cup, according to Ziad El Masri, Chairman of the Bulgarian-Arab Business Association.

Ziad El Masri informed that Bulgarian companies had managed to sign contracts in Qatar thanks to the international investment forum "The new economy of Bulgaria - The way to the East" held in the resort town of Pomorie in spring.

Ziad El Masri, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, argued that Bulgarian companies were attracting increasing interest from international partners.

According to data of the Bulgarian-Arab Business Association, over 7000 tourists from Kuwait visited Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast during the first edition of the investment forum.

“The number of companies participating in the forum has increased and we hope that the trend will persist during the next editions of the event. Investors will be shown over 10 presentations. The forum keeps gaining trust. During the last edition, participants from Iraq and Russia inquired about possibilities for investment in livestock breeding. Unfortunately, in 2014 we had serious problems with animals suffering from foot-and-mouth disease, but the interest of investors still exists,” said Pavel Marinov, District Governor of Burgas, as cited by Standard daily.

During the second edition of the investment forum "The new economy of Bulgaria - The way to the East", scheduled to take place on October 22-24, companies will be able to establish direct business contacts with organizations from Bulgaria, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen, Palestine, Morocco, Sudan, Oman, Lebanon, etc.
