The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party has issued recommendations about the makeup of Bulgaria’s new government.

ALDE President Guy Verhofstadt declared that the worst possible outcome of the ongoing coalition talks in Bulgaria would be a cabinet with the participation of nationalist formations like the Patriotic Front and the Ataka party.

Verhofstadt, former Belgian Prime Minister, argued that a coalition including nationalist entities could further delay the real European integration of Bulgaria.

Verhofstadt, as cited by the Bulgarian National Radio, refused to comment on the participation of nationalists in the new Belgian government, saying that the matter involved home affairs.

Meanwhile, center-right party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), the winner in the early elections on October 5,  continues the second round of coalition talks, with GERB leader Boyko Borisov scheduled to meet representatives of the ABV Movement (Alternative for Bulgarian Revival) at 9 am and representatives of nationalist coalition the Patriotic Front at 12 noon on Thursday.
