Bulgarian Watchdog Reports 103 Flawed Public Procurement Deals in Q3, 2014

Bulgaria’s Public Financial Inspection Agency (PFIA) has detected 103 flawed public procurement deals in 173 probes in the third quarter of 2014.

The flawed public procurement deals are worth over BGN 25.6 M and have caused damages worth over BGN 101 294, according to reports of PFIA.

PFIA detected 103 cases of failure to conduct public procurement procedures or unfounded public procurement procedures worth BGN 25 641 993.

The probes include the expenses and financial commitments incurred by all ministries by July 31, 2014.

PFIA inspectors conducted a total of 69 planned inspections at schools, state-owned forestry areas and hunting grounds, and units of the National Social Security Institute.

PFIA also carried out 104 financial inspections on tip-offs submitted with the Agency.
