NYT: Bulgaria Likely to Have Another ‘Shaky Governing Coalition’

With no clear majority party emerging in Sunday’s early general election Bulgaria is facing the prospect of yet another unstable government coalition, the New York Times has said.

Commenting on the results of the vote, the newspaper opined that with no party succeeding to win outright majority, Bulgaria’s ‘political stalemate’ is likely to continue at a time when the EU’s poorest member state needs to move fast to resolve a banking crisis and reinvigorate its sluggish economy.

The NYT also highlighted the words of Boyko Borisov, leader of centre-right GERB party which won most votes on Sunday, who said on election night he didn’t see how they could form a cabinet in the highly fragmented parliament and declined to name potential partners.
