Friday, October 3 will be a day of national mourning after the explosion at the Midzhur ammunition factory near the northwestern village of Gorni Lom, the Council of Ministers has announced.

Interim Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki has canceled all of his public appearances planned for both Thursday and Friday and has extended his condolences to the relatives of the workers and management members of the plant who are officially missing, but feared dead, as no signs of life have been registered at the site of the explosion.

Blasts razed the factory to the ground on Thursday afternoon while up to 14 (and not 15) people could have been trapped inside, the Interior Ministry has now said, with one worker supposedly at the plant spotted in the town of Montana while the incident occurred.
