Bulgaria's Producer Price Index Posts 1% Decrease in August Y/Y

Bulgaria's producer price index saw a decrease by 0.1% in August compared to the previous month, according to the country's National Statistical Institute, NSI.

Domestic market prices dropped in the manufacturing by 0.6% and in the mining and quarrying industry by 0.1%, while in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply the prices rose by 0.6%. In the manufacturing, compared to the previous month prices dropped in the manufacture of food products and in the manufacture of beverages by 0.5%, while a price increase was reported in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 2.1%, and in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 0.5%.

Producer price index in August 2014 decreased by 1.0% compared to the same month of 2013. Domestic market prices fell in the mining and quarrying industry by 4.8%,in the manufacturing by 0.3%, and in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 1.9%.

In the manufacturing compared to August 2013, a price decrease was registered in the manufacture of food products by 3.9%, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 3.7%, in the manufacture of basic metals and in the manufacture of other transport equipment by 2.2%.

The total producer price index in the industry in August 2014 remained at the level of the previous month. Higher prices were registered in the mining and quarrying industry by 2.0% and in the electricity, gas,steam and air conditioning supply by 0.6%, while in the manufacturing prices dropped by 0.2%.

In the manufacturing, more significant price decreases were seen in the manufacture of beverages by 0.5%, in the manufacture of food products by 0.4%, while prices increases were reported in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 1.9% and in the manufacture of basic metals by 1.0%.

The total producer price index in August decreased by 0.5% comparing to the same month of 2013. In the manufacturing, prices increased by 0.2% compared to August 2013. More significant price increases were seen in the manufacture of tobacco products by 5.1%, in the manufacture of leather and related products by 4.1%, while the producer prices fell in the manufacture of food products by 3.5%, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 1.7% and in the printing and reproduction of recorded media by 0.4%.
