Center-right GERB stands a chance to make an absolute majority at the upcoming snap poll, a sociologist said Tuesday.

Commenting on the results of a survey conducted by Gallup International released Monday, Parvan Simeonov told NOVA TV's morning broadcast that the conservatives might get the chance to form a government on their own.

Simeonov added the party was having a clear lead on the socialist BSP, projected by Gallup at 17.6 percent.

"In the last weeks GERB are able to mobilize a larger electoral periphery. The [Bulgarian Socialist Party] is usually a formation with firm and predictable support. The curious thing is that despite vast support for GERB 59 percent think Borisov should not be Prime Minister. 24 percent approve him," he elaborated.

Gallup's estimates suggest GERB will have 100 MPs in the next legislature, while only half as much (50) will represent the BSP.

Liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) is expected to get 40 lawmakers.

Other parties could have as much as 15 representatives, the agency believes.
