NATO Warships to Drop Anchor in Bulgaria's Varna

Canadian HMCS Toronto and Spanish ESPS Almirante Juan de Borb?n are to arrive at the Black Sea city of Varna on Friday, the Bulgarian Navy has reported.

The unofficial routine visit two vessels from the 2nd Standing NATO Maritime Group are to have an unofficial routine visit at the port until September 22.

Both frigates took part in the PASSEX-type naval exercises held September 17 and 18 to the north-east of the Romanian town of Constanta.

Bulgarian frigate Drazki and two ships from Romania were also part of the drill aimed at improving interoperability among NATO member states and promoting mutual understanding and crew preparedness.

Earlier in September, Toronto and Almirante Juan de Borb?n were off Ukraine's Odessa for the BREEZE exercise.

As the vessels were entering the Black Sea, it was reported they were to call only at the ports of Constanta and Odessa.
