Total Hourly Labor Cost Posts 3.6% Increase in Q2 2014 Y/Y

Preliminary data of the Bulgaria's Statistical Institute for Q2 2014 indicates that the total hourly labor cost has risen by 3.6% compared to the second quarter of 2013.

The total hourly labor cost grew by 6.9% in industry, by 1.1% in services and by 4.0% in construction.

The breakdown by economic activities showed that the highest annual growth in total labor costs was recorded in Administrative and support service activities-10.3%, Mining and quarrying-9.0% and Water supply, sewerage,waste management and remediation activities – 8.3%.

The greatest decrease in total labor costs was observed in Real estate activities by 14.9% and Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 1.7%.

In the structure of the total labor costs, the wages and salaries costs per hour work have increased by 3.0% in comparison with a year earlier, while the other (non-wage) costs rose by 6.5%.

Among the economic activities in Q2 2014 compared to Q2 of 2013, the growth rate of wages and salaries component ranged from (-17.1%) in Real estate activities to 9.6% in Administrative and support service activities.
