Sofia Mayor Orders Constant Monitoring of Waterbodies Over Heavy Rainfalls

Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova has ordered constant monitoring of rivers, dams and critical sections due to the potentially dangerous weather conditions and heavy rains.

Fandakova has made all arrangements for the sanitary drainage of the local Ivanyane dam, Sofia Municipality informs. Water levels of all reservoirs in Sofia municipality are being checked.

An organization has been created for emergency response from the municipal departments for rescue operations.

Code orange weather alert has been issued for four districts in northwestern Bulgaria for September 15 due to torrential rains.

Seven other districts, including Sofia city, Pernik, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Lovech and Pleven are under a code yellow alert for potentially dangerous weather conditions.
