Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki has vowed a budget update draft by end-September, stressing that the measure is unavoidable.
He explained that the changes to the E-Government Act were also expected to be ready by the end of the month and the final versions of operational program schemes for the new programming period were due by October 11.
Bliznashki, as cited by dnevnik.bg, presented a brief report on the achievements of the caretaker government during its past month in office.
He informed that 30 tasks out of a total of 66 had been accomplished, 35 were being implemented, and one task was mainly the responsibility of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB).
Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister noted that a substantial part of the commitments which were yet to be fulfilled were related to legislative initiatives which were to be dealt with after the early elections on October 5.
He informed that the next government would have to make changes to the Election Code, the Law on Direct Participation of Citizens in Government, etc.
Bliznashki reminded that the caretaker government had allocated BGN 16 M to support flood-stricken areas and had sent application forms to the European Commission for two of these regions, anticipating support of over EUR 300 M.
He added that the caretaker government had made huge efforts to cover the payments affected by the EU funds freeze under two operational programs.
Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister assured that the school year would start normally on September 15 in all parts of the country regardless of the damage caused by floods.
As regards the upcoming early elections, he explained that the caretaker government had ensured stringent security measures and the printing house of BNB had already launched the printing process.
