The archaeological dig at the Perperikon complex in south eastern Bulgaria got extra funding and will hire another 30 people, reports Vesti.bg.

The head of the expedition Nikolai Ovcharov told journalists that the extra BGN 80 000 funding from the Kurdzhali municipality expands the total sum for this year to BGN 150 000.

Currently at the site are employed 50 people, but as of next Monday will be hired another 30-35 and work will continue through October.

Since the beginning of this year's excavations at Perperikon last month, archaeologists have found a bronze axe, dated from the Bronze Age, two bronze crosses from the early Middle Ages and a silver cross from XVII – XIV century AD. A piece of ceramic with a prayer, inscribed on it, has also been found.
