Minor 2.9-Magnitude Earthquake Registered West of Bulgaria's Smolyan

A minor earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale was registered in Bulgaria, according to reports of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The earthquake was registered in 4.29 am on Wednesday.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 13km south of the southern village of Borino, 30km west of the city of Smolyan and 150km southeast of Sofia, at a depth of 2km.

The National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography at the Bulgarian Academy of Science reported about an earthquake measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale with an epicenter south of the village of Yagodina, northwest of the Trigrad Gorge, west of the Buinovsko Gorge, at a depth of 2.2km.

There were no reports of material damage from the earthquake.
