A Soviet monument in Bulgaria's capital city of Sofia has been covered in red paint, Friday night.

The monument – ossuary of Soviet soldiers in Lozenets district in the capital city has been painted red on the eve of the celebrations of the 123rd anniversary of the Socialist Movement in Bulgaria and the Day of the Bulgarian Socialist Party marked with celebration at Mount Buzludzha, Saturday.

This is not the first time that the Soviet monument has been vandalized. On May 8, the flags of Ukraine and the European Union were painted on it, with the words "Europe Day instead of Victory Day" in reference to the celebrations of the Day of peace and unity in Europe and of the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War both marked on May 9.
