Bulgarian President Georgi Plevneliev has assured that the caretaker government will be formed in time and will reflect the urgent tasks which the country needs to address.

Plevneliev told journalists in Plovdiv on Monday that the caretaker government was not supposed to be a panel of randomly nominated candidates, stressing that it had to be based on solid principles and priorities.

Bulgaria's President, as cited by Sega daily, vowed to address the nation and present the tasks of the caretaker government by August 5, provided that the political formations observed their commitments and it was possible to form a caretaker government and dissolve Parliament within the constitutional deadlines.

He argued that the members of the new "ambitious and motivated" caretaker government would set themselves high goals.

Plevneliev suggested that it was too early to specify names of ministers in the caretaker government, adding that principles were more important because the organization of the upcoming early elections was just one of a number of pressing issues.

He vowed to nominate "pro-EU minded democrats" with strong records in the spheres they would represent, stressing that the members of the caretaker government were to be ready to achieve progress on the priority issues.

Plevneliev also pointed out that Bulgaria needed urgent changes in the approach to energy and long-term planning in certain sectors.

He said that Bulgaria had to address the European Commission, boost the level of confidence it attracted, unblock frozen EU funds under two operational programs and fast-track EU funds absorption in the last two months.

Bulgaria's President noted that the caretaker government could have the opportunity to engage in talks with EU authorities on the 2014-2020 Partnership Agreement with the EC and even to finalize work on the document.
