Executive Director of Bulgaria's State Fund Agriculture Atanas Dobrev has signed 47 contracts for the modernization of agricultural holdings totaling BGN 5M.

Most contracts are for organic farming for the cultivation of strawberries, pears, peaches and plums and organically grown walnuts, almonds, roses, rose hips and vegetables, the Fund's press center informs. Another part of the investments will be allocated for organic vineyards, organic lavender and organic rose oil.

The funding will be used for the purchase of lavender harvesters and tractors, as well as for mounted greenhouses, drip irrigation systems, etc.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria was named the world leader in lavender growing and oil production by the French newspaper Figaro as a total of 60 tonnes of lavender oil were produced in 2013.
