The Avtomagistrali Tcherno More workers have staged another protest on the Hemus highway blocking the road junction Belokopitovo for nearly 2 hours, Wednesday.

The company is a contractor of a section of Hemus highway and workers have been protesting over unpaid salaries for April and May. According to Petya Stoyanova, deputy head of the company, the payment is delayed by the Road Infrastructure Agency. As of June 27 the total sum due is about BGN 12M, although construction work is done on schedule.

“With minimal resources we support the most important things that have to be carried out on the highway, because we don't have money,“ Petya Stoyanova, deputy CEO of Avtomagistrali Tcherno more said.

“I want to apologize to all the people that we owe money to, we do everything we can, but when we are faced with irresponsible institutions it is very hard,“ said Stoyanova, cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA).

The team is ready to move its protest to Sofia too, in front of the Road Infrastructure Agency building, if the the decision to pay out the BGN 12M owed for the construction of the section of the Hemus highway is not implemented by the beginning of the next week.

"They promised us that at today's meeting of the Council of Ministers the decree, detailing the payments to Avtomagistrali Tcherno more would be approved, but nothing of this sort happened. Today it also is not in the schedule. The only thing we learned from syndicates is that on June 27 a decree was submitted from the Ministry of Regional Development in the Ministry of Finance. That means that minister Desislava Terzieva shamelessly lied to workers, journalists and everyone else", Petya Stoyanova said.

Since April to this day every Wednesday the workers in the firm have been waiting for the decree to be submitted in the Council of Ministers, the trade union members say.
