Bulgaria's Parliament passed amendments to the Consumer Protection Act, extending the right of consumers to return goods bought outside the business premises within 14 days.

The extension of the previous seven-day period was passed with the EU Directive of Consumer Rights (2011/83/EC), which became effective on June 13, 2014.

According to the amendments, consumers in Bulgaria will have the right to return products, purchased outside the premises and cancel contracts, negotiated from a distance within 14 days of the date, on which the product was received or the contract signed, without needing to give explanation or paying compensation and additional expenses.

The amendments encompass online, telephone and catalogue shopping as well as contracts, negotiated by phone.
