Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to Parliament that an enactment allowing military intervention on Ukrainian territory be canceled, his press secretary reported.

The request was introduced "with the aim to normalize the situation" in the east of Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

It is also related to the three-way talks which kicked off in Ukraine's Donbass region between rebel representatives, Kiev government envoys and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) officials.

Parliament in Moscow is due to discuss the move on June 25.

On March 1 Vladimir Putin was allowed by lawmakers to send troops on Ukrainian soil as a measure to protect  Russian citizens and soldiers based in Crimea.

Prior to its absorption into Russian following a local referendum, Crimea also hosted the Russian Black Sea Fleet and was to do so until 2042.
