The early elections in Bulgaria will take place on one of three dates (September 28, October 5, October 12), President Rosen Plevneliev revealed.

Following nearly 4 hours of discussions at the Consultative Council on National Security, the President said that the political leaders had agreed on these possible dates, excluding the option of September 21.

Most of the party leaders present at the Council left the building without making comments. Only the nationalist Ataka leader Volen Siderov stopped in front of the cameras.

"Our wish for elections at the end of July was not taken into account. It looks as though Bulgaria is destined for an ongoing political crisis, resembling that in Italy. I would not rule out regular elections every year", Siderov commented.

The exact date will be determined at one of the next consultations between the President and the parliamentary parties. Depending on the decision, the cabinet of PM Plamen Oresharski will set its date for resignation.

A small group of protesters remained outside the President's office throughout most of the day, calling for the immediate resignation of the government. There was increased police presence as Oresharski made his way into and out of the building.
