"It is now time for a very precise analysis, with no euphoria and with care for the country's future. It is time for coffee. [...] We became used to building political dialogue through confrontation. The [Bulgarian] political language is a monologue. We state positions, but hear little from the other side. Only those who manage to gain political identity though dialogue achieve success. I call on everybody to have coffee."

Lyutvi Mestan, leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), after urging early general elections this autumn. In March Mestan had a cup of coffee with center-right opposition party GERB's leader Boyko Borisov, who was previously portrayed as an arch-enemy to democracy.

"We should be careful not to overdose on coffee, it could damage our hearts."

Yanaki Stoilov, ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Parliament Group's Deputy Chairman, commenting on the mass coffee invitation by the DPS leader.
